Sugar beet BOMBER SMART

Stable yields under high disease pressure

"Bomber Smart" by the Belgian company Sesvanderhave Nv/Sa is a sugar beet hybrid designed for growers who prioritize crop protection against foliar diseases. In intensive farming systems, where the risk of disease outbreaks is constantly rising, this hybrid demonstrates impressive resilience in conditions where other varieties begin to lose leaf surface area.

Agronomic profile and disease resistance

This hybrid belongs to the normal-sugar type (NZ), making it a 'golden mean' for farms striving for a balance between root weight and sugar yield. However, the key competitive advantage of "Bomber Smart" is its phytosanitary shield. Sesvanderhave’s breeding program has equipped this hybrid with high resistance to:

• Cercospora leaf spot: A devastating pathogen for many sugar beet fields capable of destroying yields in a matter of weeks.
• Ramularia: A disease often overlooked but one that significantly reduces the plant's photosynthetic activity.
• Powdery mildew: A fungal infection that thrives during periods of temperature and humidity fluctuations.

These traits allow agronomists to optimize fungicide applications or gain more flexibility in timing, which directly impacts production costs.

Who is this hybrid for?

If your fields are located in regions with high disease pressure, "Bomber Smart" serves as a reliable risk management tool. It is the choice for growers who want to avoid the 'lottery' of weather conditions and ensure the preservation of the canopy until harvest. The hybrid shows excellent results in soils with medium to high fertility, consistently realizing its sugar content potential. "Bomber Smart" is more than just seed; it is an investment in predictable results.
