Description KV-Step
KV-Step is a high-yielding sugar beet variety developed in Ukraine and belonging to the group of diploid and triploid hybrids based on cytoplasmic male sterility. This variety is intended for seed production and obtaining high-quality seeds, ensuring stable and efficient sugar beet cultivation in farms. KV-Step is recommended for cultivation in areas with sufficient moisture, following crop rotation after winter crops such as peas or corn for green feed, and ensuring spatial isolation between mother beet and seed plots to improve seed quality. Sugar beet KV-Step is characterized by high yield and sugar content. The average root mass reaches 900 grams, with a yield of up to 110 tons per hectare at a sugar content of about 18%. The recommended plant density is 90–115 thousand per hectare, with a sowing rate of 1.3 seeding units per hectare. The variety exhibits good resistance to major leaf diseases, allowing harvest in mid to late periods without loss of sugar quality. Resistance to diseases is expressed in high rates: rhizomania — 99%, cercosporosis — 69%, powdery mildew — 79%, and aspergillosis — 79%. Cultivation of KV-Step is accompanied by comprehensive support for producers, including personal consultations and digital services throughout the year. The cultivation technology involves the use of scientifically justified norms of organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as proper placement of mother beet and seed plots in crop rotation after optimal predecessors. This ensures stable performance of the variety under various weather conditions and contributes to successful development of farms using this hybrid.
