Alfalfa MEMONT

Italian genetics for high-yield forage

Lucerne «Memont» is a premium breeding product developed by the Italian firm Sea Sementi Elette Alba S.R.L. in cooperation with the regional agency ARSSA (Abruzzo). This variety reflects years of research into adapting legumes to Mediterranean climates, making it an excellent candidate for regions characterized by hot summers and fluctuating moisture levels.

Key traits and agronomic potential

• Plant height: 80–120 cm.
• Adaptability: High resilience to temperature volatility.
• End-use: High-quality hay and green mass production.

The primary advantage of «Memont» lies in its ability to combine vigorous early growth with stable regrowth post-harvest. Unlike many local varieties, this hybrid creates a dense crop stand, allowing for a higher yield of nutritional biomass per hectare. The stems are of medium thickness, ensuring faster drying times, which is essential for hay quality in regions with limited harvest windows.

Is this variety right for you?

«Memont» is an optimal choice for livestock producers who prioritize high protein content in their forage. It thrives in loamy, fertile soils and responds well to intensive cultivation techniques. While the variety requires standard weed management during its establishment year, it exhibits strong competitive growth once fully rooted. Its main limitation is sensitivity to waterlogging; therefore, it is best suited for fields with adequate drainage to achieve its maximum height potential of 120 cm.
