Lucerne MEMONT — this is a multi-year herbaceous plant from the legume family, widely used in Ukraine for pastures, silage, and production of grass meal for livestock feed. The plant is characterized by high frost resistance, drought tolerance, and ability to grow well on various soil types, including heavy clay soils, without requiring additional irrigation. Lucerne seeds undergo magnetic treatment, enhancing their disease resistance and reducing tendency to lodging. Lucerne germinates within two weeks after sowing, which is recommended to be done in April, and requires moderate watering for active growth. The crop overwinters without additional cover, making it convenient for long-term use. One of the key advantages of MEMONT lucerne is its high productivity: with irrigation, it can yield 80 to 120 tons of green mass or 20-40 tons of hay per hectare over 8-10 cuttings. Due to symbiosis with nitrogen-fixing rhizobial bacteria, lucerne accumulates significant amounts of nitrogen in roots and stubble, equivalent to applying 40-60 tons of manure. After decomposition, the plant biomass becomes easily assimilated fertilizer, improving soil structure, reducing acidity, and promoting humus accumulation. Its powerful and deep root system (up to 2-4 meters) enhances soil aeration and water permeability, as well as helps clear fields of weeds and reduce plant disease incidence. In addition to its feed use, MEMONT lucerne is valued as a honey plant with high sugar content in nectar (about 50%), producing clear or light-yellow honey that crystallizes quickly. During its flowering period, which occurs in June-July, the plant adorns the area with its purple flowers arranged in 2-3 cm long racemes. Lucerne contains high levels of protein and amino acids, making it a valuable component in the diet of domestic livestock. In crop rotation, the crop is used for 2-3 years, improving soil fertility and promoting sustainable agriculture.
