Sea Buckthorn 'Lyubimaya': Effortless Harvesting

One of the primary challenges for any gardener growing sea buckthorn is the presence of sharp thorns that turn the harvest season into an ordeal. The 'Lyubimaya' variety from FANTZA eliminates this issue completely. This selection-bred cultivar is characterized by thornless shoots, allowing for quick and painless fruit picking. It is the perfect blend of agricultural productivity and garden aesthetics.

Productivity and Fruit Quality

The 'Lyubimaya' variety stands out for its high yield, capable of producing 10–15 kg of high-quality berries per bush. With an average fruit weight of 0.5–0.9 g, the berries are suitable for both fresh consumption and processing. The flavor profile is a balanced, classic bittersweet, which makes these berries ideal for:

• Fresh market: the berries hold their shape well, maintaining marketability during storage and short-distance transport.
• Processing: they are excellent for producing oils, jams, and Vitamin C-rich concentrates.

Growing and Care

Beyond its culinary utility, 'Lyubimaya' is a valuable ornamental plant. It maintains a neat, tidy habit, making it an excellent candidate for landscape design. However, growers should note that it is not self-pollinating in isolation; a pollinator plant nearby is essential for heavy fruit sets. The variety thrives in sunny locations with well-drained soil, as it is highly sensitive to waterlogging in the root zone.

For those looking for a low-maintenance, high-yield plant, this variety from FANTZA is an optimal solution. It balances the need for industrial-level yields with the convenience required by domestic orchard owners who prefer a comfortable harvesting experience.
