MOONLIGHT HIPPOPHAE

The 'Moonlight' Hippophae variety is a medium-sized plant, 2–5 m tall, with rounded bushes and straight fruiting shoots. The fruits are medium-sized (0.60–0.67 g), elongated in shape, with a yellow-orange hue featuring red-orange spots on the base and tip, and a medium-thickness skin. Fresh berries are rated 4.4 points for taste, combining sweetness (sugar content up to 8.5%) with mild acidity (about 1.8%). They contain Vitamin C – from 137 mg to 221 mg per 100 g, carotenoids – 13–27 mg/100 g, and approximately 5% oils.

'Moonlight' is distinguished by high yield: in Western Siberia, it reaches 85.9–88.3 kg/ha (6.8–8.8 kg/bush), and in broader assessments – up to 11.6 tons/ha. The plant is drought-resistant and heat-tolerant, retaining fruits on the bush for 1-2 months, which ensures ease of harvesting and transportation.

The variety is suitable for various types of processing: fresh berries, juices, canned goods, freezing. Due to the high content of Vitamin C and carotenoids, it is valued in both the food and cosmetic industries. Resistance to endomycosis and the fly makes it a profitable choice for farmers seeking to minimize crop losses.
