Sea buckthorn «Eva» is a medium-ripening female variety that begins fruiting 2–3 years after planting and reaches a height of up to 3 meters. The canopy is compact, dense, and rounded, making the plant decorative even without fruits. The leaves are lanceolate, pointed, silver-green with a waxy coating, up to 8 cm in length.
The fruits are large, elongated, and bright orange, weighing about 0.8–1 gram. They are sour-sweet; the juicy pulp contains vitamins (C, B1, B2, E, K), minerals, and biologically active substances, as well as antioxidants. The fruits ripen at the end of summer – the second decade of September, remaining on the branches until the first frosts.
The yield is high: 8 to 20 kg from one bush, with the maximum achieved with good care. The plant is resistant to diseases and pests, withstands low temperatures down to –40 °C and tolerates drought well, although regular watering is required for maximum yield.
For pollination, the presence of a male plant (for example, «Adam») or wild sea buckthorn is necessary. The plant prefers a light place, light, drained sandy loam soil, and moderate watering. The root system develops up to a depth of 40 cm.
Sea buckthorn «Eva» is widely used in cooking – for making juices, jams, jellies, infusions, tea, and infusions. Due to its high content of vitamins and minerals, it is valued as a medicinal plant: oil from the fruits is used for burns, bedsores, gastritis, ulcers, hypertension, and other diseases.
Seedlings are usually supplied at the age of 3 years. To maintain shape and stimulate growth, annual sanitary pruning is recommended. The plant's lifespan is up to 50 years.
