RG 1124 is a winter rye (Secale cereale L.), representing a diploid form with a short plant and an intermediate semi-prostrate bush. A feature of the variety is the absence of anthocyanin coloration of the coleoptile and weak or absent stem pubescence under the ear. The ear is semi-erect, of medium density and short, with a strong waxy coating on the ear and the flag leaf sheath. The grain is small, with a light aleurone layer coloration, which characterizes it as high-quality sowing material for agricultural use.
