Description

The winter rye variety 'Graphine' is a mid-late diploid variety with high winter hardiness and lodging resistance, rated at 9 points. The plants are medium-sized, with heights ranging from 96 to 147 cm, featuring a semi-erect plant habit and colored coleoptile. The ear is semi-drooping or drooping, of medium density and length, with a slight waxy coating. The grain is of medium size, light-colored, with a 1000-grain mass varying from 24 to 35 grams. The variety is characterized by excellent baking qualities and a falling number meeting the requirements for the first commercial class. 'Graphine' is distinguished by high yield, which reaches an average of 34-35.6 c/ha in various regions, with maximum figures reaching up to 76.7 c/ha, recorded in the Tver region. The vegetation period ranges from 303 to 348 days. The variety has the ability to form yields at the level of or above adaptive varieties even on low-fertility acidic soils with elevated aluminum ion content, making it particularly valuable for complex agro-climatic conditions. It is moderately resistant to brown and stem rust, resistant to powdery mildew, but susceptible to snow mold. Rye 'Graphine' is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the Northwestern and Volga-Vyatsky regions, as well as the Perm Krai, Vologda, and Sverdlovsk oblasts. The best predecessors for this variety are black and early pairs. Drought resistance of the variety is at a high level, which further enhances its adaptability. Due to its robust stem and high regenerative ability after disease damage, 'Graphine' is a reliable choice for agricultural production in temperate climate conditions.
