Description KONDRATENKO RYE
Kondratenko is a spring rye variety developed by multiple individual-family selection from six hybrid populations. It belongs to the diploid form and is characterized by an intermediate bush type. Plants have a height of 92 to 112 cm, which is slightly below standard indicators, with a colored coleoptile and leaves of medium length and width with weak pubescence and absence of wax bloom. The spike is prismatic, yellow in color, of medium length and density, with long semi-diverging awns. The grain is semi-rounded, gray-green, from medium to large size, weakly pubescent at the base, with a 1000-grain mass of 29-33 grams.

The variety is late-maturing with a vegetation period of 320 to 335 days, corresponding to the Chulpan standard level. Kondratenko demonstrates high winter hardiness and lodging resistance, exceeding the standard by 1.5 points, and ensures high plant overwintering—92.2% compared to 86.3% for the standard. Drought resistance of the variety is assessed as medium. Yield is high and stable: average yield in the Central region is 32.6 c/ha, while the maximum is 53.2 c/ha, recorded in the Vladimir region. The variety consistently outperforms the well-known Chulpan variety in yield.

Kondratenko has satisfactory baking qualities and medium resistance to shattering. Regarding diseases, the variety is susceptible to stem and brown rust, moderately susceptible to powdery mildew, and highly susceptible to snow mold. Rye is recommended for cultivation after black and early fallow, with a sowing rate in the Non-Black Soil zone of 5.0-7.0 million viable seeds per hectare (160-200 kg/ha), and in the Central Black Soil zone—4.5-6.0 million viable seeds per hectare (150-170 kg/ha).
