Tatyana

The winter rye variety Tatyana is an intensive variety with high yield and stability indicators. It was developed through multiple individual-family selection from a hybrid population including the Vятка Severnaya, Chulpan, and Oryolskaya 9 varieties. Plants are characterized by a strong and relatively short straw with an average height of about 133 cm, which ensures high resistance to lodging. The vegetative period ranges from 294 to 349 days, corresponding to medium-late varieties such as Kirovskaya 89 and Volkhova. The variety is distinguished by good winter hardiness with overwintering rates exceeding 91% and drought resistance at the level of leading varieties, making it a reliable choice for various climatic conditions. The grain of the Tatyana variety is small or medium-sized, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 26-38 g, which ensures good baking qualities and a high fall number of up to 273 seconds. The grain is suitable for use in the baking, alcoholic, and compound feed industries. The ear is semi-drooping, dense, with a strong waxy bloom, which contributes to protection against adverse weather conditions. Productive tillering is about 2.4 stems per plant, and the average number of grains per ear reaches 48.9, which contributes to high yield, with maximum indicators reaching 77.7 c/ha. The Tatyana variety is recommended for cultivation in the Central, Northwestern, Volga-Vyatka, and Middle-Volga regions. It responds well to fertilizers and seed treatment, which allows increasing yield and product quality. Despite susceptibility to brown and stem rust, as well as snow mold and powdery mildew, the variety demonstrates lower infection rates compared to other varieties.
