Description Alpha
Winter rye of the ALPHA variety is a late-ripening variety with a vegetative period of 312 to 325 days, corresponding to the standard variety Chulpan. Plants reach a height of 115-120 cm, have an intermediate bush type, leaves of medium length and width with weak pubescence and no waxy coating. The ear of the variety is prismatic, short, dense, and horizontal, colored yellow, with long semi-diverging awns. The grain is semi-round, gray-green, semi-open, with a pubescent base; the mass of 1000 grains is 28-32 grams. The variety is characterized by medium yield in the Central region — 28.9 c/ha, with a maximum yield of up to 62.3 c/ha recorded in the Ivanovo region.

The ALPHA variety exhibits high winter hardiness, exceeding the average level, and lodging resistance at the standard level. However, it is susceptible to several diseases: stem and brown rust appear with high susceptibility, powdery mildew — with medium, and snow mold causes severe damage. The baking qualities of the variety are assessed as satisfactory, making it suitable for use in the baking industry.

To protect spring rye crops, including the ALPHA variety, the use of the insecticide Atrix, containing 100 g/l of alpha-cypermethrin, is recommended. This preparation is effective against pests affecting rye and is produced in 5-liter packs. The use of the insecticide helps maintain plant health and increase yield.
