DescriptionAmber
The winter rye variety Amber is a late-maturing variety with a vegetative period ranging from 296 to 356 days. The plants are medium-height, standing 106 to 147 cm tall, semi-erect, with horizontally arranged spikes of medium density and length. The grain is large, with a pale aleurone layer, and the mass of 1000 grains ranges from 28 to 37 grams. The variety was developed with the participation of genotypes having low levels of water-soluble pentosans, which is an important advantage for use in feed production and the baking industry.
Amber is characterized by high yield, with an average regional indicator of 26.5 centners per hectare, reaching a maximum of 63 centners per hectare. The variety exhibits lodging resistance, which is higher than that of varieties Falenshaya 4 and Chulpan 7, along with moderate resistance to diseases and weak resistance to pests. Winter hardiness is slightly inferior to varieties Isset and Falenshaya 4, while drought resistance is on par with the standard. Thanks to the formation of a greater number of productive stems per unit area, Amber demonstrates high productivity potential.
A distinctive feature of the variety is its low content of water-soluble pentosans — only 0.53%, which is significantly lower than the standard values of over 1.5%. This reduces the negative impact on the availability of nutrients when feeding farm animals, expanding the opportunities for using the grain for fodder purposes. The variety is recommended for cultivation in the Volga-Vyatsky region and Sverdlovsk Oblast, confirming its adaptation to the conditions of the non-black soil zone of the Russian Federation.
