The «Amber» rice variety is medium-early and was bred by Kazakhstani breeders at the I.Zhakhayev Kazakhstani Research Institute of Rice Growing. The vegetation period is 114-117 days, and the yield reaches 100 c/ha. The plant is characterized by a compact bush with a stem of medium thickness, and the grain is large, elongated, and of medium width, with a mass of 1000 grains of 32-36 g. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to pyricularia, rice leaf nematode, lodging, and shattering, and also belongs to the group of salt-tolerant varieties. In addition, it is able to overcome a layer of water in the seedling phase, which allows it to be cultivated without the use of herbicides.
In terms of technological and culinary qualities, «Amber» is distinguished by high translucency and whole kernel yield. The grain is white, semi-paddled, and elongated (2.8-2.9), which makes it ideal for preparing fluffy dishes such as pilaf. Rice does not stick together during cooking, retains its shape and color, which is also suitable for side dishes and chicken dishes. Plant height is 90-110 cm, and the panicle is long and straw-yellow.
For cultivation of the variety, an optimal sowing rate of 5.5 million viable seeds per hectare and certain fertilizer rates depending on the predecessor are recommended. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the West-Delta zone of the Krasnodar Krai. The rice packaging is strong and convenient for storage, which ensures the preservation of product quality until the moment of use.
