VOLGOGRADSKY

The Volgogradsky rice variety is cultivated in steppe conditions without flooding, which significantly reduces water consumption during its cultivation. This variety is characterized by high yield, reaching from 5 to 8 tons per hectare, making it attractive for agricultural production. Volgogradsky rice is characterized by a low sugar content — less than 5%, which positively affects its nutritional value and allows it to be used even in baby food. Thanks to adaptation to local climatic conditions, this variety is stable and productive in the growing region. Studies conducted in the Lower Volga showed that optimizing water and nutrient regimes significantly affects yield and rice quality indicators. In particular, the use of drip irrigation and maintaining soil moisture at 70-80% of full water capacity contribute to maximum plant development and increasing the yield to 5-7 tons per hectare. In addition, proper application of mineral fertilizers in combination with soil moisture control allows for efficient resource use and reduced irrigation costs. Thus, Volgogradsky rice represents a promising variety for large-scale production under limited water supply conditions. Its high yield, adaptation to local conditions, and low sugar content make it in demand both for industrial cultivation and for use in specialized food products. For further development of production, it is necessary to improve agricultural infrastructure and introduce modern irrigation and fertilization technologies.
