Rice Vicont

Technical Profile of the Viscont Variety

The 'Viscont' variety, developed by the Rice Institute of the NAAS of Ukraine, is a specialized round-grain rice cultivar engineered for stability and high performance. With an optimized growth cycle of 115–120 days, it offers farmers a predictable production window, essential for managing large-scale harvesting operations without the risks associated with late-season climatic shifts.

Pathogen Resistance and Field Performance

The core of this variety’s agronomic value lies in its genetically fixed resistance to rice blast (Pyricularia oryzae). This intrinsic trait significantly lowers the dependency on chemical fungicide applications, reducing input costs and improving the environmental footprint. Its high yield potential, ranging from 8 to 9 tons per hectare, is bolstered by strong resistance to common rice pests, ensuring a stable output even under pressure.

Processing and Milling Specifications

• Grain Type: Round-grain, optimized for industrial milling with high yield of high-quality husked rice.
• Protein Content: 8–9%, providing the desired nutritional profile for consumer retail.
• Usage: Fully suitable for both direct retail distribution as grain and secondary industrial food processing.

The 'Viscont' variety is designed to meet the rigorous requirements of modern rice processing plants, offering uniform ripening and consistent physical grain characteristics that facilitate industrial sorting and packaging.
