Description September
The September potato variety is a Russian mid-early table-type variety developed specifically for home gardens and small farms. The plants are semi-erect, medium to tall, with numerous weakly branched stems and medium-lobed green leaves. Flowering is weak and short-lived, with compact inflorescences bearing white corollas. Tubers are oval with blunt tips, featuring smooth yellow skin and white flesh that does not darken when cut. The weight of one tuber ranges from 74 to 161 grams, with 8-12 tubers per plant. Starch content in the tubers ranges from 13.8% to 19.9%, ensuring good taste and versatility in cooking — suitable for frying, baking, boiling, and making mashed potatoes.

The variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 143 to 406 centners per hectare, with maximum yields in the Omsk region reaching up to 450 centners per hectare. Tubers have a marketability rate of 76-99% and a storage life of 92%, making this variety convenient for storage and sale. The September variety is resistant to diseases such as late blight of foliage and tubers, and potato cancer, but is susceptible to infection by golden cyst-forming nematodes. Preferred cultivation regions are the Ural and West Siberian regions.

For harvesting the September potato variety, it is recommended to consider optimal timing, which can be determined using a lunar planting calendar. In September, the most favorable days for harvesting are the 1st, 2nd, 6th-11th, 15th-21st, 23rd-26th, and 29th-30th, while harvesting between the 3rd-4th and 27th-28th is not recommended. This approach helps preserve tuber quality and increases harvesting efficiency.
