Potato Samarsky

The potato variety 'Samarsky' is an early-maturing table variety with a maturation period of 65-75 days, during which the first harvest can be taken as early as day 45 after emergence of seedlings. The plant is tall and bushy with large green leaves of intermediate type. Tubers are oval-round in shape, with very small eyes, smooth red skin, and white flesh. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 71 to 122 grams, and starch content varies between 14.1-17.8%, ensuring good to excellent taste and making the variety versatile for various cooking methods. The 'Samarsky' variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 154 to 197 centners per hectare, with a maximum potential of 200 centners. Tubers have a storage capacity of 91%, contributing to their long-term preservation. This potato is suitable for boiling, frying, baking, and is also suitable for processing into crispy potato chips, expanding its culinary and food industry applications. The variety is resistant to potato cancer pathogen and viral diseases, enhancing its reliability in cultivation. However, it is susceptible to late blight of leaves and tubers, as well as golden potato cyst nematode, requiring preventive measures during cultivation. The breeders of this variety are scientific institutions and companies engaged in potato breeding and development.
