Description PINK WIZARD
The 'Pink Wizard' potato variety is a mid-season table variety with oval-round tubers, whose skin is partially colored red, while the flesh has a creamy hue. The average weight of marketable tubers ranges from 105 to 179 grams, and starch content varies between 14.5–15.0%. The taste is rated as good to excellent, making it attractive to consumers. The variety is characterized by high marketability — 83–88% — and excellent storability, reaching 92%. The plant is of medium height and intermediate type with semi-upright growth habit. Leaves are light green, medium-sized, and the flower cluster is also medium-sized with moderate anthocyanin pigmentation on the inner side. Yield ranges from 163 to 333 centners per hectare, meeting the Aurora standard and exceeding the Petersburg standard by 52 centners. Maximum yield may reach 428 centners per hectare, significantly surpassing the Innovator standard. The variety shows resistance to potato cancer pathogen and pathotype I, as well as resistance to striped mosaic and leaf curl. However, it is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode and moderately susceptible to late blight on stems and tubers. Due to its characteristics and resistance to several diseases, 'Pink Wizard' is suitable for cultivation in various regions, including Northwestern and Central areas.
