Potato variety Russian Beauty is a medium-late table-type variety developed by Russian breeders, intended for cultivation in the Central region. The plant is of medium height with semi-erect growth habit, leaves of medium to large size, green in color with wavy edges. Tubers are oval-shaped with small eyes, red skin, and creamy flesh. Marketable tuber weight ranges from 80 to 140 grams, starch content is 14-17%. The flesh is slightly soft, making the variety suitable for frying and baking, and ensuring good taste and high marketability of tubers (80-95%).
The yield of Russian Beauty variety is high and stable, reaching from 120 to 375 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 448 centners. Tubers have a storage capacity of 93%, allowing them to maintain quality for a long time after harvest. The number of tubers per plant ranges from 7 to 12. The variety exhibits resistance to several diseases, including potato cancer pathogen, late blight of foliage and tubers, leaf curl virus, as well as moderate resistance to crinkle and mosaic diseases. However, the variety is susceptible to golden potato cyst nematode.
Russian Beauty is recommended for open-ground cultivation with sowing in May at a depth of 8-10 cm and spacing of 60 x 35 cm. The maturation period ranges from 95 to 120 days depending on growing conditions. Due to its characteristics and disease resistance, this variety is a reliable choice for obtaining high-quality table potatoes with good taste and high yield.
