Innovator

Innovator potato is a medium-early table variety of Dutch selection, developed by HZPC Holland B.V. This variety is characterized by stable and high yield, ranging from 15 to 35 kg per 10 m² (or 155–329 c/ha), with a marketability of 82–96%. The vegetation period varies from 75 to 115 days depending on growing conditions. The plant is medium to tall, with upright or semi-upright bushes and moderate green mass. Leaves are large, light green, flowers are white. Each bush forms 6 to 11 large, uniform oval-shaped tubers weighing 83 to 150 grams.

Innovator tubers have a tough, rough yellow skin and light yellow flesh with small surface eyes, facilitating peeling. The variety exhibits high resistance to mechanical damage, making it ideal for long-term transport and storage — storability reaches 95%. Taste qualities are rated as good and satisfactory; suitable for making soups, salads, vegetable mixes, boiling, frying, and stuffing. Starch content is 12–15%.

Innovator is low-maintenance in agronomy and adapts well to various soil types, except very dry ones. Tubers should be planted at a depth of 8 to 15 cm depending on soil type. The variety shows high resistance to late blight, pale potato nematode, leaf phytophthora, common scab, and some viruses, but is not resistant to tuber phytophthora and some viral diseases. Due to its characteristics, Innovator is a versatile and reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions.
