Description Sagitta
SAGITTA is a mid-early potato variety of Dutch origin, characterized by high yield and universal use. The vegetation period ranges from 80 to 115 days, with marketable harvest possible as early as 75-90 days after planting. Tubers are oval-shaped, with yellow skin and light-yellow or cream-colored flesh, weighing 93 to 165 grams. The number of tubers per plant varies from 8 to 14, with small eyes. Starch content ranges from 13.8% to 18.5%, making this variety suitable for various cooking methods, including boiling, frying, and especially for French fry production. The flesh does not darken upon cutting or thermal processing, preserving the appealing appearance of dishes.

The variety exhibits high drought resistance and resistance to several diseases, including potato late blight, scab, viral diseases, potato cancer, golden potato cyst nematode, and common scab. Tubers have a storage capacity of approximately 93%, ensuring good keeping quality. However, the variety is sensitive to Alternaria and Rhizoctonia, and has moderate sensitivity to metamitron. For successful cultivation, pre-sprouting tubers and avoiding planting in cold soil are recommended. Nitrogen fertilizer application can be increased by 10% compared to other mid-early varieties.

Optimal planting conditions include ridge spacing of about 75 cm and plant spacing of 27-35 cm. SAGITTA is well-adapted for cultivation in the Northwest and Central regions of Russia. Due to its excellent taste and technological properties, this variety is popular among both farmers and consumers who prefer potatoes for diverse culinary uses.
