Description

The Isle of Jura potato variety is a medium-early table-type variety of Anglo-Russian selection with a maturation period of 65 to 80 days. The plant is of medium height, intermediate type, semi-upright, with large dark-green leaves and white flowers. Tubers are elongated-oval, with very small eyes, covered with rough yellow skin, and the flesh has a light-yellow hue. The weight of marketable tubers varies from 88 to 192 grams, and the number of tubers per plant ranges from 6 to 10. The starch content is in the range of 12.0–16.2%, ensuring good culinary qualities and versatility in cooking methods, including frying, baking, and boiling. The variety is characterized by high market yield, ranging from 248 to 338 centners per hectare, with maximum yields up to 415 centners per hectare. Tubers' marketability reaches 77–98%, and storability is 95%, indicating good storage performance. The taste of the potato is rated as good to excellent, making it attractive to consumers. Cultivation practices are standard; the variety is hardy and suitable for cultivation in the Central region of Russia. Isle of Jura exhibits high resistance to several diseases, including potato late blight, golden potato cyst nematode, common and black scab. According to phytopathological studies, the variety is moderately susceptible to potato blight on tubers but resistant on foliage. These characteristics make it a reliable choice for farmers seeking a stable and high-quality yield with minimal risk of losses due to diseases.
