Castor F1 is a mid-season hybrid of colored cabbage of Japanese selection, intended for cultivation during the late summer to autumn period. The plant features a strong leafy canopy with blue-green leaves covered by a moderate waxy coating and slight waviness along the edges, providing good protection for flower heads against sunburn. The heads have a round shape, dense structure, and white color, with an average fruit weight of 1.5 to 2 kg. The rosette is raised, facilitating convenient harvest.
The Castor hybrid exhibits high resistance to infectious diseases, but requires preventive measures against pests and rot. The crop demands strict cultivation conditions: it does not tolerate acidic soils, requires regular watering and mandatory mineral fertilization, and responds well to organic fertilizers. The optimal planting density is 32-37 thousand plants per hectare, ensuring high yield — up to 5.4 kg per square meter.
Castor F1 cabbage is widely used both fresh and for culinary processing, canning, and freezing. Thanks to its excellent taste and market appearance, this hybrid is suitable for fresh market sales and processing. The maturation period is 80-90 days, allowing for a stable harvest at the end of summer and beginning of autumn.
