Onion DUET

Technical Profile of 'Duet' Chives

The 'Duet' chive variety by Agrofirm Aelita is a perennial crop engineered for intensive production of high-quality salad-grade greens. Its primary agronomic advantage lies in its rapid regeneration rate, allowing for multiple harvests of fresh foliage within a single growing season.

Biological Capacity and Yield Metrics

With a potential yield exceeding 100 tons per hectare, 'Duet' demonstrates significant vegetative density.

• The growth cycle of up to 90 days allows for precise production scheduling for commercial growers.
• As a salad-type variety, the focus is on maintaining a mild flavor profile and tender texture, which are essential for market differentiation.
• Long-term site utilization is a key feature, provided that soil moisture management prevents root system waterlogging.

Harvesting and Logistics Strategy

The 'Duet' variety is strictly limited to hand-harvesting methods. This technical constraint is due to the delicate, tubular structure of the leaves, which are highly susceptible to mechanical damage. Any bruising during mechanized harvest leads to rapid tissue breakdown and a significant decline in shelf life. Given that the shelf life is limited to 1–2 months, efficient logistics between the field and the retail point are paramount to maintaining the product's premium market value.
