Early pink onion is a mid-early variety of onion with a round-elongated bulb shape and a weight of up to 80 grams. It is characterized by high yield in autumn sowing and low maintenance requirements. The onion has a weak sharp taste with a pleasant sweet note and very juicy flesh, making it ideal for fresh salads, stewing meat and fish, as well as canning with other vegetables. Due to its high content of saponins and antioxidants, this variety is not only tasty but also healthy, and is resistant to temperature fluctuations and various diseases.
For successful onion cultivation, it is recommended to pre-warm bulbs at 20 degrees for three weeks before planting, and at 35-40 degrees the day before planting. In autumn before planting, the soil should be fertilized with organic fertilizers, avoiding fresh manure, and after planting, mulch with straw, leaves, or sawdust for winter protection. In spring, when the first seedlings appear, the cover is removed. During the growing season, the onion requires abundant watering, which is gradually reduced a month before harvest. Soil loosening and weed removal are also important. Feeding is done three times: the first with chicken manure two weeks after planting, the second with mineral fertilizers three to four weeks after the first, and the third with potassium fertilizers after the same interval as the second.
Pink onions differ not only in taste but also in an attractive appearance with a beautiful pink hue. They are suitable for long-term storage and are widely used in cooking both fresh and dried, pickled, and canned. Planting 500 grams of onion seedlings allows to obtain no less than 20 kilograms of sweet onion, which makes it profitable and convenient for growing both at home and for commercial purposes.
