MACCABI

Maccabi pepper is a high-yielding, mid-early hybrid of sweet pepper of the Lamuyo type, characterized by a robust plant with a strong stem and medium-sized, deep green leaves. Plants reach a height of about 60-70 cm and can produce eight or more fruits simultaneously, ensuring a high yield potential — approximately 5-5.2 kg per square meter. The fruits have an elongated-cuboid shape with a smooth surface, wall thickness of 6-7 mm, and contain two to four chambers. The bright red color of the fruits lasts long, making them attractive for sale and use.

This variety was developed by the Israeli company Hazera Genetics LTD and was first introduced to the market in the 1970s in the USA and Mexico. Thanks to its long storage life and high transportability, Maccabi pepper retains freshness and market appearance for an extended period, without losing color intensity or succumbing to wilting. The fruits are resistant to sunscald and exhibit high tolerance to blossom end rot, as well as resistance to several common diseases, which simplifies care and reduces cultivation risks.

Maccabi pepper is versatile in application and suitable for cultivation both in open and protected soil. Plants are easy to manage, and the recommended pruning is to one or at most two stems. Fruits can be harvested at the technical maturity stage, allowing their use in various culinary purposes. This variety combines high quality, attractive appearance, and reliability, making it a popular choice for both commercial cultivation and home gardens.
