Registered in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2007 for Steppe and Polissia zones, recognized as a national standard since 2010.
Originator — Institute of Plant Breeding named after V. Ya. Yuryev, NAAN.
Variety distinguishing features. Variety — contecstum (linked), subvariety — mеsomelan (black seed hilum).
Seedless (hairy), semi-dwarf type. Stem usually upright, plant height — 65–85 cm, internodes to first flower — 12–14. Flowers white, two per pedicel. Pods lenticular type, medium size, slightly curved, blunt apex. Seed number per pod — 4–5, maximum — 8. Seeds round, smooth surface, pink, with black seed hilum.
Agronomic features. Grain use variety, medium maturity. Vegetation period — 75–78 days. 1000-seed mass — 250–270 g. Protein content in seeds — 20–23%. Resistant to lodging, suitable for direct combine harvesting, requires timely harvesting. Resistant to drought conditions.
In 2005, high yields of the Deviz variety were obtained in the Rivne region at the Rivne Central State Experimental Station — 5.81 t/ha, and in the Cherkasy region at the Man'kovsky State Station — 5.1 t/ha. In the steppe Crimea, maximum yield — 2.87 t/ha — was recorded in 2010.
According to field qualification assessments in the Polissia zone during 2009–2010, average yield of the variety was 2.33 t/ha, with a maximum yield in 2009 — 3.37 t/ha. In the Forest-Steppe zone, average yield — 2.52 t/ha, with a maximum yield in 2009 — 3.72 t/ha, obtained at the Belaytsivskaya State Station of the Kyiv Central State Experimental Station. In the Steppe zone for 2009–2011, average yield — 2.31 t/ha, with a maximum yield in 2010 at the Kirovohrad State Station — 3.38 t/ha. In 2012, at the agricultural enterprise TPФ «Intercenter Lux» (Slobodskoy district, Transnistrian Moldovan Republic), yield of Deviz — 2.54 t/ha.
Under production conditions at the LLC «Pobeda» in the Fastov district of Kyiv region, in 2012, yield was obtained — 4.30 t/ha.
