ALTAI UNIVERSAL

Field pea of the variety "Altai Universal" is a mid-season variety with a vegetative period of 52 to 56 days. Plants reach a height of 35 to 103 cm, depending on growing conditions, and have white flowers. Seeds are spherical, yellow, with a mass of 1000 seeds ranging from 177 to 239 g. Protein content in the grain reaches 25%, making this variety a valuable source of plant protein. Pea is characterized by high yield, averaging 15.4 c/ha, and medium-level resistance to lodging and root rot.

The variety is characterized by large pods 7-10 cm in length, containing 5.5 to 7.5% sugar, which gives the pea a sweet taste and high culinary qualities. Thanks to this, the pea is suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for freezing and canning. Plants can be grown without support, which simplifies agrotechnology. To improve seed germination, plant health, and increase fruit setting, it is recommended to use special growth and development stimulants.

For successful cultivation of the variety "Altai Universal", fertile, calcium-rich loamy and medium loamy soils with neutral or slightly acidic reaction are preferable. Good soil aeration and placement in well-lit areas are important. Seeds are sown in open ground at the beginning of May to a depth of 3-5 cm, depending on the soil type. Pea can be sown in several stages and tolerates frost well at the seedling stage. It is recommended to observe crop rotation, avoiding planting on the same site more often than once every four years to reduce the risk of diseases.
