Onion Sentinel

Technological Profile of the Sentinel Hybrid

The French breeding expertise of Clause is clearly reflected in the Sentinel hybrid, which prioritizes a high-quality yield balanced with robust plant development. As a long-day onion variety, it is engineered for regions where optimal daylight exposure drives a clear biological growth cycle of 115–120 days. This timeline allows the crop to establish a resilient root system and fully mature its protective layers before harvest.

Bulb Integrity and Storage Longevity

The defining strength of Sentinel lies in its bulb structure and physiological durability. The bronze-yellow outer scales are more than a visual standard; they signify high dry matter content, which is the primary driver for long-term storage viability. The tight, multi-layered "skin" acts as a protective shield, minimizing mechanical damage during harvesting and preventing pathogen infiltration during the storage phase.

• Yield Characteristics: With an average weight of 100–150 grams, the bulbs meet the precise size requirements of modern retail chains and processing facilities. The uniform, rounded shape facilitates streamlined automated sorting and cleaning.
• Storage Capacity: The genetic architecture of this hybrid ensures a storage lifespan of 6–8 months. For commercial growers, this extended durability is a significant advantage, allowing for strategic market release when the demand for high-quality, long-storage onions peaks.

Sentinel is a strategic choice for operations where yield reliability and post-harvest marketability are critical. By maintaining high uniformity and physiological stability, it minimizes risks and ensures consistent product quality from the field to the storage room.
