The onion Sonesta F1 is a medium-maturing hybrid of bulb onion for short-day cultivation, developed by the Dutch breeding company Bejo Zaden. The vegetation period of this hybrid is approximately 115-120 days from emergence to harvest. The plant features a strong root system, providing high resistance to adverse weather conditions such as spring frosts and summer heat, as well as stress tolerance and resilience in various climatic regions.

Sonest F1 bulbs have a round shape and high-quality golden-dark brown dry scales. The average weight of bulbs ranges from 150 to 250 grams, with white, thick, crisp inner scales. The onion has a mild and delicate flavor without bitterness, making it popular for both commercial use and culinary applications. The dry matter content in the bulbs reaches 7.7%, contributing to excellent taste and product quality.

The hybrid demonstrates resistance to diseases such as Fusarium, pink rot, and basal root rot, significantly enhancing its reliability during cultivation. The yield of this variety reaches approximately 100 tons per hectare under optimal conditions and proper agronomy. The onion can be stored for up to 8 months without losing flavor or appearance. Sonesta F1 seeds do not require pre-planting treatment, simplifying agronomic operations. It is recommended to grow through seedlings for stable high yields, although direct sowing into open ground also yields good results.
