Otava cabbage is an early-maturing Savoy cabbage variety intended for cultivation in open ground. The vegetation period ranges from 67 to 75 days from transplanting seedlings to harvest. The plant is low-growing with a short outer stem, ensuring compactness of the head and ease of care. This variety can be grown both by seedling method and by direct sowing into open ground in the third decade of April, followed by thinning in the two-true-leaf stage, which allows the thinned material to be used as seedlings.
The cabbage heads are small in size, weighing from 1.5 to 3 kg, with good density and a light-yellow color when cut. The heads are well-covered, which helps maintain product quality and appearance. The variety is characterized by resistance to bolting, preventing premature flowering and extending the harvest period.
