Red Baron onion is a medium-maturing red salad onion variety, characterized by high yield and excellent taste qualities. This variety was developed by the Dutch company Bejo Zaden and is intended for cultivation in open ground. The bulbs have a round, slightly flattened shape, with an average weight ranging from 120 to 150 grams. They possess an attractive deep red color and a sweet flavor with minimal pungency, making them especially popular for fresh consumption, salads, and canning. A distinctive feature of this variety is that the bulbs do not stain other ingredients in dishes with red color. Red Baron exhibits strong growth vigor and a well-developed root system, ensuring resistance to adverse conditions such as spring frosts and prolonged drought. The variety adapts well to various climatic conditions and soil types, and is resistant to diseases such as fusarium, downy mildew, and root rot. Thanks to these qualities, the onion maintains high yield and product quality with proper care, including crop rotation, irrigation management, thinning, and application of complex fertilizers and top-dressings. The vegetation period varies depending on growing conditions and ranges from 70 to 130 days. The average maturity period is about 95 days, with bulb maturation reaching 85-95%. Yields can reach 3 to 6 kg per square meter, and bulb storage life lasts up to six months. Due to its resistance to bolting and low temperatures, Red Baron is a reliable choice for cultivation in various regions, ensuring a stable and high-quality harvest.
