Onion Robin Hood

Technical Specifications and Morphological Profile of 'Robin Good' Onion

The 'Robin Good' variety by the Gavrish breeding company is a mid-season bulb onion engineered for high-quality commercial production within the fresh produce market. Its primary advantage lies in its adaptation to long-day conditions, allowing for reliable yields across various latitudes.

Biological Development and Yield Potential

The growing period from emergence to foliage senescence spans 90–100 days. This developmental cycle is optimized for the accumulation of dry matter within the bulb tissues, which is a fundamental factor for superior shelf life. Under controlled storage conditions, the bulbs maintain their structural integrity and commercial attractiveness for 6–8 months without significant weight loss.

Market-Ready Bulb Characteristics

• Morphology: The uniform rounded shape facilitates efficient mechanized harvesting and sorting.
• Weight: The average bulb weight of 100–150 grams satisfies the standard requirements of retail chains and wholesale distribution.
• Skin Quality: The bronze-yellow outer scales provide a robust protective layer, ensuring high resistance to mechanical stress and pathogen infiltration during logistics.

For agricultural producers focusing on long-term market presence, 'Robin Good' serves as a strategic asset. Its balanced maturity and extended storage capacity allow farmers to mitigate supply chain risks and meet the demand for premium quality onions throughout the winter and spring seasons.
