Onion PREDICTION

Premium storage potential and market-ready appearance

The Prediction F1 onion hybrid, introduced by Syngenta in 2024, is engineered for professional growers who prioritize long-term storage and consistent market quality. As a mid-late maturing hybrid (115–125 days), it is specifically designed to meet the demands of the winter and spring markets, offering exceptional shelf life.

Why Prediction F1 is a storage powerhouse:

• Extended shelf life: The bulbs maintain their commercial quality for up to 6–7 months, providing growers with the flexibility to time their sales for peak market prices.
• Disease resistance: High genetic resistance to Fusarium and pink root rot ensures that the crop enters storage in a healthy state, significantly reducing the risk of post-harvest decay.
• Market appeal: With its uniform round shape and attractive golden-brown skin, Prediction F1 is highly sought after by retailers. The firm scales are robust enough to withstand mechanized harvesting and long-distance transport without bruising.

Prediction F1 is a strategic choice for operations focused on stability. By combining high yield potential with superior resistance to soil-borne pathogens, this hybrid ensures a high percentage of marketable produce that retains its firmness and culinary quality even after months in storage. It is a testament to Syngenta's commitment to high-performance vegetable genetics.
