Onion PRAGA

Chives «Praga» by Semo: Premium Czech Selection

For growers looking to achieve consistent quality in the fresh-cut greens market, the «Praga» variety from the Czech breeding house Semo represents a gold standard for perennial chives. Unlike bulb onions, this salad variety is cultivated specifically for its delicate, flavorful foliage that remains succulent throughout the entire growth cycle.

Key Advantages of the «Praga» Variety

The primary strength of «Praga» lies in its ability to balance vigorous growth with a refined, mild flavor profile. The dark green leaves maintain a slender structure and do not turn fibrous, even when harvested over an extended period. Because it is a perennial crop, it offers significant reliability for producers, exhibiting strong winter hardiness even in fluctuating climatic conditions.

• Resilience: Being a perennial, it ensures early seasonal production, typically gaining strength in its second year.
• Flavor Profile: It possesses a subtle piquancy that makes it the perfect accompaniment for salads and refined culinary garnishes.
• Harvest Efficiency: Specifically suited for manual harvesting, the foliage maintains its aesthetic appeal and structural integrity during handling and transport.

Who is «Praga» for?

«Praga» is an ideal choice for professional farmers targeting the fresh-market segment. Its capacity for multiple cuts per season allows for predictable revenue streams. For home gardeners, it is a low-maintenance, high-yield plant that thrives with minimal intervention. To maximize quality, ensure a consistent irrigation regime and remove flower stalks promptly to redirect energy into vegetative leaf production. With Semo’s pedigree, you are choosing a variety that is as reliable as it is delicious.
