IONOVEC

The IONOVEC onion is a variety of multi-layered onion (Allium proliferum) characterized by its unique feature: instead of flowers, air-bulbs are formed on the stalks in several layers. This perennial herbaceous vegetable originates from China and is widely used in agriculture due to its high winter hardiness and frost resistance. The IONOVEC onion was created through clonal selection and is characterized by high yield, disease and pest resistance, making it attractive for cultivation in various regions.

The IONOVEC variety features a round-flat bulb with a medium weight ranging from 55 to 80 grams, displaying a golden-yellow color in dry scales and white color in juicy scales. The bulb is dense, with a semi-sharp taste, few-socketed, and typically forms 2-3 bulbs per socket. The onion belongs to mid-season varieties with a maturation period from germination to harvest of 100-110 days. Yield ranges from 195 to 410 centners per hectare, while the storage and transportability of bulbs are rated as excellent.

For cultivating IONOVEC, it is recommended to use it as a one-year crop from seeds or as a two-year crop from seedlings. The plant is well-suited for producing storage bulbs and green shoots. Optimal conditions include a sunny location, timely irrigation ceasing in July, and adherence to a planting scheme of 7-10 on 15 cm for seeds and 25 on 10 cm for seedlings. The variety is adapted for cultivation in various regions and requires fertile soil with fertilizers to achieve maximum productivity.
