Onion Ingot

Focusing on the fresh market: The Moravoseed «Ingot» advantage

Moravoseed’s breeding program often prioritizes flavor profiles, and the «Ingot» onion is a perfect example of this philosophy. This mid-season variety (110–120 days) is specifically bred for the fresh market salad segment. For growers targeting local supermarkets and farmers' markets, the quality and appearance of this variety provide a significant competitive edge.

Field operations and practical application

Ingot produces uniform, ellipsoid-shaped bulbs with an average weight of 150–160 grams. Its light-brown skin gives it a clean, attractive shelf appearance. Because the variety is meant for fresh consumption and has a shelf life of 1–2 months, it is an essential tool for completing the season's supply chain.

• Harvesting protocol: The variety is designed for manual harvesting. This method ensures that the delicate outer scales remain intact, preventing bruising and maintaining the high-quality look required for retail presentation.
• Market timing: By focusing on rapid distribution rather than long-term cold storage, Ingot allows growers to capture the early-season demand for fresh, crisp produce.

If your operation centers on efficient post-harvest handling and fast-moving inventory, Ingot offers a reliable performance. Its uniform size reduces labor costs during sorting, making it a highly practical choice for professional growers who prioritize quality over extended storage life.
