Spirit F1 — an early-maturing hybrid variety of long-day onion, intended for cultivation as a one-year crop from seed. The bulbs are flat-round in shape, weighing from 47 to 100 grams, with a density of about 9. Outer scales are bronze-yellow, inner succulent scales are white. The onion has a semi-pungent flavor, making it versatile for various culinary purposes. Dry matter content is 11.4%, total sugar — 6.8%, ascorbic acid — 11.2 mg per 100 g of raw product, indicating high quality and nutritional value.
The hybrid is characterized by high yield, ranging from 78 to 202 centners per hectare, with yields reaching up to 255 centners per hectare in some regions, such as the Stavropol Krai, significantly exceeding those of standard varieties. The period from emergence to mass leaf fall is 100–113 days, which is several days shorter than comparable varieties. Spirit F1 has excellent storage capacity and resistance to sprouting during long-term winter storage, allowing it to maintain its market appearance and quality for an extended period.
The variety exhibits enhanced disease resistance, including moderate resistance to root rot and low infection levels from neck and bacterial rot (up to 3%). Recommended for cultivation in various climatic zones, including the Central, Volga-Vyatka, North Caucasus, Middle Volga, Ural, and Eastern Siberian regions. Spirit F1 is suitable for open-ground cultivation with row spacing of 30 cm and recommended seeding density of approximately 30 seeds per meter, ensuring optimal conditions for achieving high yields and quality produce.
