Green Banner

Green Banner onion is an ultra-early onion variety for green tops, characterized by a maturation period of about 40 days. This hybrid is a cross between bulb onion and onion-leaf (broadleaf) onion, which allows for earlier harvest of green tops compared to traditional onion-leaf onions. The plant exhibits vigorous growth, a strong root system, and an upright habit. Leaves are abundant, with strong dark bluish-green tips, and the stem has a medium length of about 5–8 cm. Due to these characteristics, the variety produces exceptionally uniform extra-class quality with an excellent mild flavor. Green Banner shows high adaptability and can be grown year-round under various climatic conditions, both in open ground and protected environments. It is recommended for early spring harvest of ultra-early green tops, as well as for high-quality green top production from early spring through late autumn and winter in greenhouses. The variety demonstrates excellent heat tolerance and increased resistance to extreme temperatures, making it suitable for diverse growing regions. Special attention should be given to its resistance to diseases such as fusarium and root rot, which significantly reduces the risk of yield loss. The hybrid is highly productive with a potential yield of 2–3 kg per square meter, which can reach 3.5–4 kg with regular watering. Its rapid regrowth and prolonged harvest period make it attractive for commercial cultivation and stable high-quality production.
