Kaigaro F1 Onion is a fast-growing, medium-maturing hybrid developed by the Dutch company Enza Zaden, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under cover. The vegetative period is approximately 50-54 days, allowing harvest within 1.5-2 months after emergence. The plant forms upright, long leaves up to 50 cm in length, with an emerald or bluish-green hue and moderate waxy coating. The false stem reaches 8-9 cm in length and lacks anthocyanin pigmentation. The average plant mass is 50-55 grams, with the hybrid forming almost no bulb.
Kaigaro F1 hybrid is characterized by high stress resistance and disease resistance, as well as the ability to actively accumulate green mass even under water deficiency and drought conditions. Due to its cold tolerance, it can be cultivated from early spring to late autumn, extending the usability period and enabling year-round fresh greens. For successful cultivation, nighttime temperature should be maintained at 12-15 °C, daytime at 18-20 °C, and several applications of biofertilizers are recommended to increase green mass.
Kaigaro F1 onion has a pleasant, mild flavor with a slight semi-spicy note, juicy texture, and distinctive aroma. It is widely used in culinary applications both fresh and after thermal processing or drying. Due to its high yield — approximately 4.2 kg per square meter — and attractive appearance, this hybrid is ideal for commercial sale and home consumption.
