Onion Bulava

Technical Profile of the "Bulava" Onion by Greenomica

The breeding strategy behind the "Bulava" variety from Greenomica is centered on achieving a high-performance balance between skin quality and growth cycle. As a salad-type onion with a maturation period of 120–130 days, it is engineered for consistent yield and marketability in varied climates.

Bulb Architecture and Durability

The bulbs feature a classic rounded shape, facilitating easy mechanical processing and sorting. A critical technical attribute of Bulava is the density of its outer scales. The deep bronze color serves more than just an aesthetic purpose; it indicates high pigment content, which acts as a robust protective barrier. Compared to lighter varieties, this skin structure provides superior resistance to micro-cracks and physical damage during high-speed harvesting.

Agronomic Advantages

• Uniformity: The genetic stability maintained by Greenomica ensures high product homogeneity, which is essential for meeting stringent retail size standards.
• Market Application: Classified as a salad onion, Bulava offers a mild flavor profile with balanced pungency, making it highly attractive for fresh consumption.
• Maturation Period: The 120–130 day range strikes an ideal balance, allowing the plant to accumulate the dry matter necessary for prolonged shelf life without the risk of late-season frost damage.

Choosing Bulava is a logical step for growers focusing on high-quality commercial onions. The combination of its dense structure and resilient bronze coating minimizes waste during post-harvest handling, allowing producers to maintain quality standards throughout the distribution cycle.
