Onion GOLDEN SPINDLE

Golden Vereteno: Commercial-Grade White Onion for Long-Term Storage

For growers focusing on the late-winter and early-spring market, the «Golden Vereteno» onion variety offers a strategic advantage. Developed by the Federal Scientific Center for Vegetable Production, this cultivar is engineered for durability, boasting a storage potential of up to 9–10 months while maintaining excellent internal quality.

Agronomic Efficiency and Field Application

With a vegetation period of 120–130 days, «Golden Vereteno» is a mid-late variety designed for high-yield farming. The resulting onions are spherical, weighing between 110 and 120 grams, which makes them highly desirable for both packaging lines and retail chains.

• Market Strategy: This variety is specifically cultivated to capture peak market prices in late winter. Its superior shelf-life significantly reduces post-harvest losses, which is critical for profitability.
• Operational Benefits: The uniform, spherical shape is ideal for mechanized harvesting and automated sorting equipment, minimizing manual labor requirements during the busiest parts of the season.
• Cultivation Requirements: To achieve the target weight of 120 grams, growers should focus on consistent irrigation management and precise nitrogen fertilization during the first half of the growing cycle, ensuring the plant builds strong vegetative mass before bulb initiation.

By incorporating «Golden Vereteno» into your crop rotation, you secure a reliable supply chain solution that bridges the gap between the harvest season and the next year's crop, ensuring high-quality produce availability when demand is highest.
