Nogal onion is a medium-late, high-yield hybrid of bulb onion, developed by the Dutch breeding company Enza Zaden. It features round bulbs of medium to large size, with a rich brown outer scale color and an attractive sheen. The vegetation period is approximately 120-125 days from emergence, allowing cultivation in various agroclimatic conditions and on different soil types, especially in southern Russia.
The plant has a strong root system and robust upright leaf apparatus with a waxy coating, which provides high stress resistance and protection against diseases such as fusarium and pink rot. Nogal onion does not require additional pest control, simplifying care and enhancing the ecological safety of cultivation. Due to its dense and uniform bulbs, this hybrid is suitable for full mechanized harvesting and has excellent transportability and storability.
This hybrid is valued for its high product quality: the white, crisp, and juicy heart of the bulbs, with a pleasant flavor and pronounced aroma, makes it popular both in fresh produce markets and for processing. The sowing rate is 1.0-1.1 million seeds per hectare, ensuring optimal plant density and high yield.
