Description CHECHEK
Sea buckthorn variety "Chechek" is a medium-sized shrub tree reaching a height of about 3.8 m and possessing a compact crown without thorns on the shoots. The plant belongs to the hydrangea family and is characterized by high winter hardiness, disease resistance, and self-incompatibility, which makes it convenient for gardening and fresh fruit production.

The fruits of the "Chechek" variety are large, orange with red spots at the calyx and pedicel base. The average mass of one fruit is 0.8 g, and the average yield is 12–14 kg/shrub (≈16.8 tons/ha). The fruits ripen in late August–early September. The taste is sour-sweet, rated 4.0 points; the fruit detaches dry from the pedicel.

The biochemical composition of the fruits is rich in vitamins and trace elements: sugar – 7.8 %, acids – 1.3 %, oil – 7.8 %, vitamin C – 157 mg/100 g, carotenoids – 24.7 mg/100 g. These indicators make the fruits valuable both for human nutrition and the food industry.
