The spring Sarepta mustard variety «Valenta» is a high-oil content and early-maturing product that ripens in 80‑83 days without erucic acid in the oil. Fat content in seeds reaches 49.1%, and essential oil content ranges from 0.6% to 0.7%. These figures exceed standard norms by 1.4% and 0.3%, respectively, making «Valenta» one of the most productive varieties for mustard oil production.
The variety is resistant to soil and air drought, and moderately resistant to alternaria. Plants are uniform in height, ensuring synchronous flowering and ripening, which facilitates mechanized harvesting and subsequent processing. The 52% oil content of seeds allows for the production of high-quality oil suitable for food use.
After harvest, the meal (pomace) from «Valenta» can be used as mustard powder for preparing table mustard, as well as a feed concentrate for agricultural animals. The variety is recommended for cultivation in a wide range of climatic zones – from the North and Northwest regions to the West Siberian and Far Eastern regions. Potential seed yield is about 35 t/ha, and the mass of 1000 seeds is 4.3–4.5 g, which confirms its high productivity and economic attractiveness for farmers.
