Mustard VITAMIN

«Vitamin» Mustard by Agrofirma Aelita: Your Soil Health Specialist

Choosing the «Vitamin» mustard variety is a strategic move for those practicing regenerative agriculture and looking to boost the vitality of their main crop rotation. Developed by the experts at Agrofirma Aelita (Nastenko N.V., Kachaynik V.G., Gulkin M.N.), this mustard has proven itself as a highly effective green manure (siderate) and a natural soil sanitizer.

Why choose «Vitamin»?

• Pest Suppression: The essential oils released by the root system create a hostile environment for wireworms and nematodes, effectively reducing soil-borne pest pressure without the need for synthetic chemicals.
• Soil Structuring: Its vigorous root system penetrates compacted soil layers, improving aeration and moisture retention, which makes the soil lighter and more workable.
• Organic Enrichment: Upon incorporation, the biomass decomposes rapidly, enriching the topsoil with organic matter, phosphorus, and sulfur. It is an excellent, weed-free alternative to traditional manure.

Practical Farm Management

«Vitamin» is the ideal choice for an intermediate cover crop. It can be sown in early spring before planting main vegetables or in late summer after harvest. Its short growth cycle allows it to establish significant biomass even in cooler weather. When tilled into the soil roughly two weeks before the next planting, the mustard acts as a natural antiseptic and provides a flush of easily accessible nitrogen.

For the best results, agronomists recommend mowing «Vitamin» at the onset of the flowering stage. At this point, the concentration of beneficial compounds in the stems is at its peak, and the material is soft enough to break down quickly, releasing nutrients back into the soil for your main crops.
