Description SUNNY SUGAR
Sunny Sugar is a mid-season melon variety with uniform fruit ripening; the first fruits are harvested 60-62 days after seedling emergence. The plant is trailing, with the main formation of fruits occurring on lateral shoots. Fruits weigh from 1.6 to 1.8 kg, but can reach up to 2.3 kg with good care. They feature light cream-colored flesh, 2.5-3 cm thick, which is crunchy, sweet, and has a delicate aroma, making this melon a true delicacy. The rind is thin, smooth with a sparse netting, so fruits are not suitable for long-distance transport, but retain flavor and aroma for up to 10 days after harvest.

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew and tolerant to downy mildew, which increases its reliability during cultivation. Yields 2-2.3 kg per square meter, and under dry farming conditions—about 1.8-2.2 kg/m². For risky farming zones, this variety is recommended to be grown in protected ground with tying of vines to trellises. When the fruit reaches the size of a walnut, the growing point above it is pinched, leaving one leaf, which promotes better fruit development.

Fruits of the Sunny Sugar variety have yellowish-white flesh with narrow cream-yellow seeds. Due to their taste qualities and crunchy texture, the melon is ideal for fresh consumption. However, due to the thin rind, it is not intended for long-term transport, which should be considered when planning the sales network.
