Melon Vika

The Vika melon variety is a mid-season vine type with a period from germination to harvestable maturity of 67-74 days. The plant is characterized by medium-sized leaves of a weakly dissected shape. The fruits are wide-elliptical, bright yellow with an orange tint and rare light yellow dots, covered with a thick net of medium thickness with linear and reticulate structure. The average fruit weight ranges from 2.8 to 3.6 kg, making them quite large and attractive to consumers. The Vika melon flesh is greenish-white, medium thickness, melting, medium density and juicy. The fruit taste is good, and after a short storage period, the flesh becomes more juicy and improves its taste qualities. The seed nest is medium-sized with dry, open placentas, seeds are whitish, medium length and width. Yield of marketable fruits reaches up to 6 kg per square meter, and with irrigation can reach up to 80 tons per hectare. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to powdery mildew and tolerance to downy mildew, ensuring reliable cultivation. Fruits withstand transportation well and maintain their marketable qualities for 22 days after harvest, making the Vika variety convenient for commercial cultivation and sales. Due to its characteristics, the Vika melon is a popular and in-demand variety among gardeners and farmers.
