Melon Sunny

Technical Specifications of the 'Solnechnaya' Variety

Developed by Gavrish and the All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Breeding and Seed Production (VNIISSOK), the 'Solnechnaya' melon represents an optimized Galia-type hybrid. This variety is designed for agricultural environments requiring rapid maturation cycles without sacrificing individual fruit weight or sugar accumulation.

Growth Cycle and Agronomic Efficiency

The vegetative period ranges from 65 to 75 days, allowing for efficient land use and scheduling. The plant architecture supports consistent fruit development, maintaining a target weight of 2.0 to 3.0 kg per melon. This weight class is specifically calibrated for ease of handling and standardized packaging requirements in commercial distribution.

Fruit Quality and Characteristics

• Coloration: The rind transitions from a subtle yellow-green at technical maturity to a vibrant orange-yellow when fully ripe.
• Interior Structure: The flesh features a dense yet juicy texture with a distinct creamy-orange hue, characteristic of high-quality Galia varieties.
• Galia Type Properties: The prominent netting on the rind is a key indicator of internal sugar development and peak harvest timing.

From an operational standpoint, 'Solnechnaya' offers a robust balance between market-ready aesthetics and harvest consistency. The genetic selection focus on this hybrid ensures that, under standard agronomic practices, the crop minimizes waste and provides a uniform, high-value yield suitable for both wholesale and retail markets.
