Dakaro

Dakaro F1 watermelon is an ultra-early pineapple-type hybrid developed by the Dutch seed company Enza Zaden. This variety is characterized by a short maturation period of approximately 48-60 days after transplanting, allowing for early market production. The plant is compact with moderately developed foliage, well-tolerates temperature fluctuations and adverse weather conditions, actively flowers and sets fruit. Dakaro is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew, fusarium, and downy mildew, enhancing its reliability when grown in open ground or under cover.

The fruits are oval-shaped, weighing 1.5-2.5 kg, with a beautiful yellow-orange rind covered in a distinct netting. The flesh is light, white with a yellow tint, crisp and uniform, with a small number of seeds. Under high solar activity, the fruits accumulate significant sugar levels — up to 11-12% — giving them a rich sweet flavor and strong pleasant aroma. When overripe, the flesh becomes loose, so it is recommended to consume the watermelon fresh, and to transport and store it carefully in cool conditions to preserve quality.

Dakaro F1 is suitable for seedling cultivation, including use of cover materials, as well as direct sowing in open ground. The plant quickly develops a strong leaf canopy and possesses excellent regenerative capacity, contributing to a stable yield. The recommended planting rate is up to 10,000 plants per hectare, ensuring optimal conditions for obtaining high-quality produce with good transportability and attractive appearance.
